Bailey is an 8 month old Corgi puppy. He belongs to my grandfather, but we all live together. My grandfather suffers from diabetes, as well as damage from a stroke he suffered in 2017. We are planning on training Bailey to be a service dog to assist my grandfather through daily life struggles as a diabetic stroke survivor.
Our family corgi Bailey, was caught in a hit and run from a black SUV in our neighborhood. Bailey is now suffering mutliple contusions and fluid in his lungs as well as 4 fractures in his pelvis. One of the fractures is through his hip joint, and the vet who helped us said that if not treated properly this could hinder him for the rest of his life. The driver responsible for hitting our puppy did not stop after hitting him and kept driving. This person is the one who should be paying for this mistake.
Bailey is a sweet loving dog who loves cuddles on the couch, giving loving kisses and playing with his friends at the dog park. He was hit by the car on the way to our local park going for a romp with his friends.
Our family is facing extensive vet bills for this driver's careless mistake. Our initial down payment for his hospital stay was 3,900$. The vets explained to us that this was the low end of the estimate, and we could end up paying 5,300$. We found out that this estimate, including the higher end of 5,300$ is just for the oxygen hook up he needs to breathe and not for the emergency surgery which he will need in order to walk again. We are not sure how much this will cost us, so the amount we are hoping to raise is a rough idea of the total we will pay for his medical treatment.
