Help Angelo in his fight against Lung Cancer
Donation protected
My name is Amy, I’m Angelo’s ex wife, daughter’s mother, and friend. On May 4th 2019, Angelo was diagnosed with Non Small Cell Lung Cancer, Stage 4. He was hospitalized in California after coughing up blood and having severe shoulder pain. They found a large tumor in his lung that measured 70 mm x 70 mm x 80 mm. Since diagnosis , Angelo has relocated to Carson City, Nevada to live with us so he can be with his daughter and I could be his primary caregiver. We found out soon after that the large tumor in his right lung had spread to his brain, lymph nodes, bones and even his muscles (which is uncommon). He had radiation 5 times to a large baseball sized tumor on his shoulder, and also radiation to his brain. He started Keytruda, an immunotherapy infusion, in hopes of shrinking his tumor and sites of metastasis. He has been hospitalized 4 times since diagnosis. He’s made it through pneumonia, sepsis, pericardial effusion, and pulmonary embolism. I believe the love and support from his family and friends is what has made him strong enough to get through all of this and keep fighting. I knew the moment he called me and told me about the diagnosis that I would do everything I could to be there for him. As a nurse, I knew I could do it. I also told myself I would be fine financially, I told Angelo I was not interested in a go fund me account, I said I’m your family and I can manage. Here we are 4 months in, and I’ve had to set aside my desire to financially cover everything on my own. He needs more than what I can manage now, and I don’t want him to go without anything that he needs for his cancer, his pain and his mental well being. We plan to use any help we get to cover the costs of :medications and other medical costs not covered by insurance, nutritional supplements(keeping weight on him has been so challenging), holistic care costs not covered by insurance, and assistance with transportation to appointments and treatments. Angelo is in the hospital recovering from cardiac complications related to his treatment. We are so thankful for the support and love that his family and friends have shown him this far into his journey.
