Hello, my name is Dylan Chambers, and I am trying to raise money to support my mother, Andrea Chambers, so that she can attend university.

My mum was born in Newcastle in 1962 to an immigrant father, from the Caribbean, and an English mother with the degenerative disease Huntington's Chorea. She spent the first part of her childhood being raised by her father in a single-parent household. Following a difficult and challenging childhood, she spent the last years of her childhood being raised in a children’s home in London. She left school with CSE’s in English, Biology, Art, and Typewriting at age 16.

My mother then gave birth to me at age 21 and raised both me and my sister in a single-parent household without any family support. During this time, she worked as a secretary, cleaner, and barmaid to provide for us, whilst dealing with mental health challenges and severe depression relating to her childhood experiences.

At the age of 61, my mother decided to return to education with the dream of studying a bachelor's degree at university. She enrolled in Creative Digital Media at City Capital College and completed the course with distinction, as well as passing her GCSE English and Maths equivalent.

Following this, she was accepted onto the BA Film and Television Practices course at Southbank University, believing that she would be able to secure financing to cover her course fees and living costs. Unfortunately, due to her being over 60, she is not eligible for a maintenance grant, and as a full-time student, she is no longer able to apply for universal credit.

She is currently applying for various part-time jobs and will continue to do so; however, to cover all her living costs and rent, we need your support. £8,000 would help to cover her rent and would allow her to continue studying at Southbank University and fulfill her lifelong dream of graduating from University.
