Hi, my name is Babs I'm a working wife and mother of twins and this evening our hybrid car set on fire without much warning after I collected them from school and pulled up at home.
It was a nightmare, panic, and stress from my son realising the car was smoking (because I cant really smell), getting them both out the car and to a safe distance, getting the neighbours out their houses, cars away from my car as much as possible, to calling the fire brigade out as it was right outside our front door and exploded.
We're very lucky to be safe it literally took under 3 minutes, thank God the fire bridage came out and put it out within 10 minutes but its caused so much damage.
This is not something I've done before or are used to asking for help as i'm always the one trying to help others but I'm asking for help because I know the extra strain this will now put on my family to replace what I was lost, the car is a total write off as you can see, at a time I haven't got extra to give so I'm already panicking and stressed and suffer with several health conditions.
Anyone who knows me personally knows I have to be doing something! Finding a solution to a problem, only this time its my problem and I can't sleep so this is one of my ways of working towards a solution however embarrassing it feels by reaching out for help.
I am extremely grateful I didnt loose my kids who were in the back seats and everyone is OK so far.
If in anyway you can help us, be it £1 or more please help, the car was on finance but with everything (hefty interest) so full honesty there's at least going to be around a £6k gap between what the insurers are likely to pay out (book price value around 9.5k/10k) once it's written off and what I will owe the finance company which means I won't be able to afford to replace the car until I've paid it off as I still owe just over £16k. It wasn't anything massively fancy a 2016 bmw hybrid but I saved for and work hard full time to pay it every month and will have to keep on paying it even though its gone.
I had been to buy some christmas presents before picking up the kids and had hid the bags mostly in the boot so the kids didn't see, clothes and trainers they needed costing around £170.
The kids school things have been ruined as they had to get out without their things as smoke was already in the car so I will need to replace their things too.
I've had to chuck quite alot of other stuff that was in the car and house that were covered in smoke but i'm only asking for your help in anyway towards the kids things and towards the car gap. Other things in the car should be insured thankfully.
This will help massively at a time I very much need support, we're all in shock that it happened, happened so quickly and just processing everything but I'm trying to give us a fighting chance of recovering some things before Christmas and feeling hopeful that i'm not going to be left with unaffordable huge ongoing bills.
Thank you in advance, God bless you
Babs and family x
