Help an abuse survivor get housing

UPDATE: 2 weeks ago I couldn’t lift a gallon of milk and place it on the counter so I went to the hospital to get checked out. A previous injury in my neck and shoulder have gotten worse and I’ve been place on medical leave from work unpaid. I am waiting on the HR to get back with me about being able to return to work with my restriction that I now have. The money that was raised went for us to move into the new home and now with me being off work we may end up losing. I hate asking for help around the holidays but I am going to be short $600 of my January rent so if you feel it in your heart to donate please do! Thank you and God Bless!

My name is Lacey and I’m a single mom of two disabled children, and we are survivors of abuse. We have been free for almost 5 years now, but life has been exhausting, to say the least. The last 2 years, my kids have been in the shelter and placed in a housing program to help with rent and to get us back on our feet. This year, when we went in the shelter, I had an ETA of 6 months to receive my Section 8. The housing program Bridges promised my kids and me that they would help with the rent in the current house they placed us in. My rent is $1600. I was told in July I was not receiving my Section 8, and in August, the Bridges program was ending. I just started working, only part-time, waiting on daycare vouchers. I’m 45 minutes from everyone and everything I know. I have no help down here. I appealed it, and they helped with September and October, but now I’m back in the same boat. I got approved for a cheaper place but need help with the first month's rent and deposit. The deposit is $750, and the rent is $1392. After paying bills with my son's SSI check, I had $400 left for all of this. I’m asking for help, please, because this apartment I can afford without any type of assistance once I get my foot in there. Don’t do it for me; help my kids get a stable home. We are tired of running, tired of moving, and tired of having to start over. With this new apartment, I can continue to work the schedule I am and pay rent and bills on my own, and for once, I would be able to breathe. Thank you and God bless you.
