Help Amira's Daughters Pay for her Funeral
Peace be upon you,
My name is Sagirah and I'm fundraising on behalf of my Aunt Amira and her daughters.
After a tremendous fight for her life in the hospital, Amira passed away last night. She leaves behind 4 daughters and several grandchildren who are grief stricken . As a Muslim woman, Amira will be buried right away. In order to help her daughters cover the cost surrounding her burial, we're raising money to alleviate the burden of this expense while they and their young children mourn her passing.
Amira was born in Chicago and was part of the generation of Black Americans who's parents were part of the second wave of the Great Migration, she is also a part of the generation of Black Americans whose parents reverted to Islam during the civil rights era.
Like so many Black American women who resist generations of structural racism and poverty behind the scenes, Amira devoted much of her life to taking care of and tending to the well being of others. From a young age, Amira raised many of her siblings, nieces, nephews, and later on in life, her own children and grandchildren. Throughout her life she quietly fed and tended to the needs of community. She was also the primary caretaker of her elderly mother towards the end of her mother's life.
Amira was a talented beautician who's swift hands braided tender beauty across the heads of hundreds. She was a self-taught pastry chef whose cakes and creations brought joy to the hearts and bellies of many in her community.
From hair braiding to baked goods, to child care--Amira often offered her services for little to no money.
Amira gave so much of her life to other people. She brought quiet joy to us all and asked for so little in return.
Please help the daughters of this wonderful woman by donating to her funeral.
Any amount helps.
Help us bury our beloved Amira.
