Help Alice and Her Family Through Health Crisis

Friends of precious 6 year old Alice Collins and her family are looking to source financial support to help them through what has to be any families worst nightmare.

Their beautiful eldest daughter is critically ill at Bristols Children’s Hospital after recently being struck down by a rare neurological disorder. Alice’s parents Sacha and Tom are at the hospital daily, taking the necessary time off work to care for her whilst also juggling the care of her two younger brothers Alfie and Arthur. With Sacha only being able to receive Statutory Sick Pay, they now have additional financial pressures to worry about.

Alice’s Story;

On Wednesday 24th April Sacha and Tom took their daughter Alice to their GP as she was not able to walk or move her arms. The GP called an Ambulance and she was taken to Bath Hospital where her condition worsened through the night. She was put on a ventilator and transferred to the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit at the Bristol Children's Hospital where she remains. Alice's whole body was paralysed and she was quite quickly diagnosed with a condition called Guillain-Barre Syndrome, where the body's immune system attacks the nerves. Alice has had to have IVIG and Plasma Exchange treatment to try and repair the damage. She has had to have a Tracheostomy and remains on a ventilator almost a month on. She has started to get some movement back in her head, neck and arms and we are hoping that she will make a full, albeit lengthy recovery which we have been told could take anything between 6 months and 2 years.

We are therefore hoping to source some well needed financial support for the Collins family to help get them through the toughest months, especially whilst Alice remains in Hospital. The family has a long tough road ahead and they need to focus all their energy on supporting Alice with her recovery without worrying about how they will pay the bills.
