Help Alex and Family in Their Time of Need

Hi everybody,

As many of you know my little sister, Alex, has a genetic condition called Morquio syndrome. She is also trach/vent dependent, has epilepsy, as well as several other conditions. She had been doing really well recently up until Thursday, 1/2/25. She was laughing, smiling, and doing a little bit of time off of the ventilator when she had a seizure. This is not too abnormal for her but her oxygen saturation started to drop, and was not coming back up with interventions. Her heart stopped beating and CPR was started. The ambulance transported her to the closest emergency room at Medical City Alliance, where they were able to regain a pulse. She still remained in critical condition, and was care flighted to Medical City Dallas because they would be better equipped to care for her. She is technically an adult but she is the size of a pediatric patient and we were having difficulty figuring out where to go next. This hospital has both adult and pediatric facilities on their campus. We spent hours in the ED and finally got a room in the ICU. Now we are still waiting for her condition to further stabilize. We know she has anoxic brain injury from lack of oxygenation to the brain during the seizures and cardiac arrest. We are waiting for her to wake up so we can better assess her neuro status and the extent of said brain damage. We have no idea how long she will be in the hospital for, or what the future holds at this point in time. This situation was extremely unexpected and I am asking for assistance for my family. The hospital Alex ended up going to is very far from home. My parents and I still need to go to work and take care of my little brother Kris, while trying to be with Alex in the hospital as much as possible. Any donations towards transportation, meals, and medical bills would be greatly appreciated. We are extremely grateful for all of the thoughts and prayers we have received.
