Dakota's Transition Fund
Hello! I am an undergraduate student about to graduate and head into grad school, and after waiting for a year I've realized I can't wait any longer to start my transition. I have very limited ability to make money while taking classes and have been going to school on scholarships and loans.
So far this campaign has already brought me one big step closer to having my outward appearance reflect the truth in my soul. I have an appointment to begin HRT on April 9th, and although I have yet to fully cover the cost of the cryopreservation I have been able to get it started!
Although I've made great strides, the cost of transitioning has continued to mount up, and my ability to cover my cost of living has worsened. My bank has already been overdrawn by over $200 and I haven't been able to get groceries in more than two weeks. I'm looking to raise emergency funds to keep myself afloat. With any luck I can get myself in a more stable position and start thinking about getting the next step covered, which is electrolysis.
Hair removal would be a tremendous step forward not only in helping secure my safety, but also in building confidence. It would reduce my financial burden and give me a much better chance when applying to medical school. I have very dark follicles. They grow too fast to shave and the shadow is difficult to cover even with a proper layer of color corrector. The process of having to shave at least twice a day is not only physically uncomfortable, but also a needling mental reminder that I still feel out of place. It is two more times every day that I see my reflection and am left to only hope that I can find myself in it again.
In summary I'm looking to raise:
$3840 to cover a year of electrolysis
$827 to get caught up with rent and keep a roof over my head
Costs already covered:
$795 for the cryopreservation to begin the process! (Y'all we did it!)
$95 to pay utilities that I will be late on as of 1/22
$90 for an initial therapy session
Any additional proceeds will be saved towards more expensive procedures such as electrolysis and surgeries!
Please help me out, anything is appreciated! <3
