Help Mohammed evacuate his ailing grandparents

Hello, everyone, and thank you for reading my story. I am Mohammed Shamia, a fourth year student of laboratory medicine. I am now seeking to raise the funds needed to evacuate my aging grandparents from Gaza.

Shortly after the war started, our house was bombed, and my grandparents have since been displaced more than four times and lost all of their money.  Danger is constant, they live in a cramped tent, and they are lucky to use a bathroom and clean themselves once a day. My grandfather is 77, and my grandmother 72, and both have required treatment for hypertension and diabetes since well before the war began. Our only hope of restoring some semblance of normal life is to evacuate. For over 8 months, they’ve lacked basic necessities. Among other things, we lack access to clean water, medicine, healthcare, and gas for cooking. My grandparents’ evacuation is particularly urgent because they can't access the treatment they both require for their hypertension, diabetes, and high blood pressure. 

Your donations will pay the $5,000 evacuation fee for the following individuals:

- My grandmother 

The remainder will help my grandparents access medical treatment in Cairo, resettle in housing that accommodates their advanced age, and provide my family the means to support them sustainably.
