Here in Maine, ICE is terrorizing our communities and targeting our neighbors. I am working directly with a local immigrant family who have legal status and are now afraid to leave their home because the law is no longer being applied rationally. Their housing is in jeopardy as they navigate how to keep themselves safe.
They work hard. They speak English. They are raising a beautiful daughter here, in the only home she has ever known. They love Maine.
And now we need to show them that we love them too—that they belong, and we are with them.
Recently, the father was laid off due to lack of work—not performance. He has been looking for work but right now, leaving the house carries real risk.
As a result, the family has fallen behind on rent.
They owe January rent, and February is due soon. Their rent is $780/mo.
My goal is to raise $2,340, which would cover rent for January, February, and March— giving them breathing room during this moment of terror and uncertainty.
This is community—this is belonging. This is how we say we want you here. You matter. We are with you.
This fundraiser is shared with the family’s full permission.
Thank you for showing up when it matters.
