Help Carly sell that sugar online!

Hey my name is Carly! I am a sometimes disabled person, which means my condition makes it hard to walk some days and other days I am okay. I have lupus, and although Lupus has defeated me many days, I will win the war!

I am so proud how far I have come since I first got sick at 25.

The picture below was a year into opening my studio, it’s the typical “Butterfly rash” but with extra fun swelling. This picture isn’t here to make you gasp, it’s just the most visable picture of what lupus has done to me.


I built my business Sugaring Studio at 28 with the help of my sister. And I love it! But  unfortunately it’s very hard to save money when you have a chronic condition. For example, When I had to do IVIG treatments the cost was an extra $1,000 a month.  I am lucky to be off that treatment now, but it’s always something medical going on. I have many days that I cannot work, or can only work a few hours, and that has affected my ability to save. 

I used to to love working at Fleming’s Steakhouse, that extra work funded my business. But my body cannot handle that type of work anymore. I wish that I could do this myself, as it’s really hard to ask for help. But I know now, I need to at least ask, come what may.

I love my Sugaring Studio, I love my clients. LOVE. But I can’t seem to save up enough to launch this new side business. I really believe in myself, and I have had a lot of you say the same!  I am so grateful to all of you.

I work my butt off daily in hopes that one day I will not be dependent on anyone. I believe in self reliance, and I also believe that one day lupus could win. But until that day I’m going to fight like hell to be strong. And this is my way there. I have a really good idea.

I cannot apply for credit cards or loans because of my medical debt. I can only get ahead and be successful with the help of others. This is the dark side of having a chronic illness in our country. I should not be punished for being sick. Because the sick part is hard enough!

But I believe in the kindness and compassion of others. I believe in women helping to empower other women. Because I am living proof that it works.

The business idea-

A online sugaring class & retail paste available for purchase. Also to create a sugar warmer for professionals, that would be fully customizable and safe. (Mine keeps shocking me) and as sugaring gains popularity there is a market for one.

There is also another element, but it’s secret... Shhhhh! But it’s soooo good.
