Help A friend: Marina

Many who know Marina, may have gotten a text, email or WhatsApp from her over the last few months and year. I'm one of those people she calls and text regularly. Some times at odd hours. Some times the messages seem cryptic, over the years I have learned not to ask. On Wednesday, October 14th, ending our call Marina said: "if you saw me you would see how skinny I am". I haven't seen her in a year, but a year ago she was already very thin. That comment raised my antennas and I started asking more questions. She finally told me that as of October 16th she had to move from where she is living and has no place to go.
Marina moved to the U.S. in the early '90s went to school in CT and played volleyball. Over the years she has worked doing something she loves which is working in TV. With changes in the industry and the sports that she did, she found herself without work over a year ago. She entered into the retail industry in 2019 and made ends meet, only to be halted in March of 2020.
Mariana finds herself in a position no one wants to be in. With no place to live and very little to no money. You may ask yourself, the same that I did, how does one get to this place. With no family and a very few people, she lets into her inner circle. She has no place to go. She has asked for help from a few select co-workers. We can't do this on our own. So we are reaching out to you, to see if there is anything you can donate to help her get back on her feet.
Today she reached out to a few organizations in Miami- Dade with wonderful folks who are helping her look for a job. She is going out tomorrow to fill a few more applications and she will continue to do this next week. In the meantime, we have put all her things in storage hoping that it is only a short time till she can get them out again.
Any donation you can make will go to help get her back on her feet, towards food and shelter. We all believe a safe place to live is our number one objective for her.
