Hayden's Hope
Hello world! My name is Hayden Riley Beeson. I first met my parents, Lacey and John,
kicking and screaming on February 21, 2012 (my birthday). They are the best parents in the world, and I
enjoy making memories with them every day (and I admit sometimes at night too;
hey I am only 2 months old, so give me a break, it is hard to know all the
proper rules on sleep right away).
About the
time I was getting ready to make my first trip to Wharton, Texas (where mommy
and daddy grew up) and meet many new friends and family members for Easter, I
began to notice that my head, arms, and legs were getting heavy. I was so excited for my first big adventure
and did not worry because there were too many people to smile at (one of the
things I started doing around this time).
It is a funny thing, a smile. I have found it to be so contagious. And
when I give a little snicker of my lips, whoever sees it just smiles right on
back.
Mommy decided it was time to take me to the doctor
since I was not moving as much as they thought I should. I just figured since I have dance moves like
my dad, I was just going to need a little practice like he did. Sorry dad, mommy says you are a great dance
partner now, and I wouldn't trade you for any of those guys on dancing with the
stars.
Well it turns out mommy was right; daddy says mommy
is always right, or at least she says so.
Something was wrong with my muscles.
I had to go into the hospital, but I did not worry because mommy and
daddy stayed right by my side. They held me so close when those silly people
thought I was a pin cushion. The
doctors think I may have something called spinal muscular atrophy:such big
words, so I call it SMA.
Although I may not have as much time with mommy,
daddy, and the rest of my wonderful family as I initially thought, I hope to
create as many memories with them as possible, ones they can cherish for the
rest of their lives. I know we will
make the most out of every precious moment together, and I will continue to
bring smiles and laughter to those around me.
Some
of my favorite moments so far:
Playing
dress up in daddy's navy gear
Taking
daddy for a picnic lunch on his birthday
Celebrating
my one and two month old birthdays (those cupcakes smelled so good)
Receiving
my first collectable
Hayden,
Lacey, and John need your prayers and support.
Currently Hayden is still in the hospital, but hopes to come home
soon. With this type of condition,
medical bills and time off of work add up quickly. Any help is greatly appreciated. Money raised above the immediate needs of the
family will be donated to the SMA foundation.
Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am
your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you
with my righteous right hand. Isaiah 41:10
