On Thursday, November 6, 2014, about 10:08 a.m., officers from the Eastvale
Police Department responded to Hamner Ave. north of Limonite Ave., in reference
to a traffic collision involving a motorcycle and a tractor-trailer. Police
officers arrived on scene and immediately pronounced the driver of the
motorcycle deceased. The driver of the tractor-trailer was uninjured and refused
medical treatment. The Eastvale Traffic Team responded to the scene and assumed
control of the investigation.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the motorcycle was traveling southbound
on Hamner Ave., when it attempted to pass the tractor-trailer as the southbound
lanes merged from two lanes into one. As the motorcycle made the attempt, it
collided with the center island dividing the northbound and southbound lanes of
Hamner Ave. Immediately after the initial impact, the motorcycle driver was
ejected and collided with the trailer portion of the tractor-trailer it was
attempting to pass.
