Gonzalez Family Fundraiser

On behalf of our valued Sixtyvines team member, we wish to support and send prayers his way in this difficult time for him and his family. Here is his story:
Hello, my name is Gabriel Gonzalez. This GoFundMe is for my dad.
After trying to defend his fiancé from harm my father was rushed to the ICU to be treating for head trauma. Within an hour of arriving at the hospital the doctors preformed an emergency craniotomy. The first couple days were painful to endure as my father could only move his right hand and needed assistance to breath. This nightmare progressed as my dad became less responsive until he officially slipped into a coma.
As I’ve gotten older I’ve braced myself for the day I would lose my dad. I always expected a heart attack or with gods grace just old age. Nothing in the world prepared me for my dad to be taken from me because of someone else’s violence. Nothing in the world could brace me for the experience of sitting next to him in the hospital as he struggled to breath. This has been the hardest week of my life.
My sister and I are trying everything we can to have someone by his side every day. We read him his favorite books, usually mysteries. We play him Pink Floyd, Bob Seger or any of his favorite songs. I try to tell him jokes hoping and praying he can hear me.
Some time this week he will be transferred to a long-term care facility. Any and all donations will go towards getting him the best care we can afford.
If you want to know more about who my dad is: My dads name is Luis. He was raised in the Keys and never liked to be more than a few miles from the beach. He has always been a loud, funny, story-telling, old school type of guy. He woke up for work early enough for me to still be awake sometimes. He visited my grandmother after work everyday before heading home. He knew every joke ever said and would always be the center of attention anywhere we ever went. He was the type of guy to know every neighbor by name. Growing up I watched every Dolphins game with him. He traveled a lot when he was young. While in the Navy he lived in Japan. He loved to fish, listen to classic rock, and to have deep thoughtful conversations. As kids my sister and I would sit with my dad and talk philosophy. My dad loved to read, he often read a book a day.
