Meet Lucy - my sweet seven-year-old girl with a heart as big as her ears. She’s my best friend, my sweet cheese, and truly the light of my life.

In August 2024, my sweet Loo tore the ACL in her right back leg - a painful and debilitating injury for dogs. The ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) keeps the knee stable, and when it tears, every step is a struggle. She needed an extensive surgery that cost around $7,000. It was a tough hit financially, but there was never a question - we had to help her. With the help of my amazing parents, who I’m so grateful for, we made it happen.

For a while, she did great and was on the road to recovery. But just a few months later, she started limping again - this time on her other back leg. Our vet suspected the same injury, but at the time, X-rays didn’t show a full tear. We’ve done everything we can over the past year to keep her comfortable and happy.

Now, almost a year later, her pain has come back, this time worse. New radiographs have confirmed what we were afraid of - her left ACL is torn, and she needs surgery as soon as possible. Watching her struggle to simply walk breaks my heart. She’s only seven and still has so many adventures ahead of her - giving up is not an option.

To help cover the cost, I started Lucy’s Leap Fund. I’ve been making Lucy themed stickers and offering cat nail trims to raise what I can, but this second surgery will be a huge expense. We’re starting the fund at $5,000 to help get things moving forward.
