Research Trip to Gombe

Hello there.
My name is Anna Thompson.
I attend college at Canisius College in Buffalo, New York. I am majoring in the ABEC program. ABEC stands for Animal Behavior, Ecology, and Conservation.
For those of you that know me, I have always been fascinated and intrigued by Non-Human animals. I'm sure quite a few of you have sent me bugs you have found from all over the world, and maybe an animal figurine or two to add to my collection.
If you do not know me that well, but do follow me on Facebook, I'm sure you have noticed the never ending onslaught of animal videos and posts that I share on a regular basis. I hope they always bring as big of a smile to your face as they do to mine.
I went to my first zoo when I was four years old. As I was leaving the zoo, I told my parents that I was going to be a Zookeeper.
Fast forward 15 years, and I am attending college in one of the best undergraduate animal programs in the country, well on my way to fulfilling a dream I have had since before I could remember. My school is offering a trip this January to study Chimpanzees in Gombe National Park in Tanzania Africa.
For anyone out there who are as interested in animals as myself, yes, this is where Jane Goodall did her research.
The program was one that you had to apply for, and four applicants were picked to attend. While there, we will have the opportunity to study and work with them in their natural habitats, along with helping teach the outside world about the brilliance and importance of these creatures. I was one of the very lucky four that has been accepted, and regardless of this site, I WILL be going.
The trip itself is $5,000. I have managed to raise a good sized portion of that myself through working as much as I can and putting away every penny that I could spare. Here I am, four months away from this incredible experience, and I am asking for your help to make my dream come true.
As I'm sure you've heard people say many times, ANY little bit will help. As overused as this line may seem, I truly mean it. This experience is one that I have only ever dreamed about. At 19 years old, I am being offered the chance of a lifetime to learn from and about, in my opinion, one of the most intricate and misunderstood beings to roam this Earth.
I appreciate any and all help by all of you to push my dream into a reality.
"The least I can do is speak out for those who cannot speak for themselves." -Jane Goodall
Sincerely,
Anna Thompson
