On April 3, our mom, Nellie Sewall, went to the emergency room at 3 in the morning because she was having unbearable stomach pain. She had been in pain since the day before and did everything she could to manage it. Preston drove her to the emergency room and dropped her off at 3am (he couldn’t go in with her due to COVID19 protocols). While there, they determined her appendix had ruptured and they needed to do emergency surgery.
While operating, they found 2 potentially cancerous masses. Due to her appendix rupturing, there was an infection, and she ended up staying in the hospital for 4 days. Over the course of a month and a half, she waited patiently for the results after visiting multiple doctors and her new oncologist. It was determined that she has stage 3 Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma and needs to start chemotherapy immediately. Her doctor advised that if her appendix had not ruptured, she would have never known she had cancer... it had been growing for 2-3 years.
With everything going on with COVID19, we understand if people are unable to chip in anything but we're asking our friends, family and acquaintances to help our mother pay for this. She owns Alfie’s Fish & Chips and as you all know, she recently spent all of her savings on moving the restaurant in November. She doesn't need the added stress of having to worry about medical bills... and we're hoping that with your help, we can raise some funds to help her out during this incredibly difficult time.
As you all know, she's always willing to help others, so let’s help her! Anything you can donate will seriously make a difference. She starts chemo today, June 10 (yes, two months after they initially found the masses) and we're hoping this GoFundMe will help her out immensely.
Thank you in advance. We appreciate each and every one of you.
Love,
Nellie's Kids
Danielle, Chelsea, Preston and Hillary
