Help Poops Kick the Crap Outta Cancer

Donación protegida
My big kitty Rocky (better known as Poops) has always been a happy, friendly, talkative, purr-y boy. During the holidays, he appeared lethargic and had less interest in food; and if you know Rocky, THAT is very uncharacteristic.

On January 16th (my birthday), after several vet appointments, blood tests, xrays, an ultrasound and biopsy, he was diagnosed with Large Cell Lymphoma. Needless to say, I was absolutely gutted. The good news is that it IS treatable. The bad news is that the cost is an outrageous $6,000.

If you really know me, you know just how much I love him. He's got a lot of life left in him and I promised to not allow money to be the reason for him to not continue living a happy and healthy life. SO I went with the oncologist’s recommendation and opted for the best treatment.

His first chemo treatment was on January 18th and it went really well! This will be ongoing for the next 6 months. During the first 2 months he'll receive weekly treatments, and after that, bi-weekly for another 4 months.

I was a little worried about chemo making him miserable, but to my surprise, it doesn't have the same negative side effects for dogs and cats as it does for us humans. On the contrary, they don't have many side effects at all and their quality of life can improve very early on during treatment. No hair loss and any lethargy is typically from the cancer, not the chemo.

After just one treatment, his appetite has improved and he's beginning to roam the house a bit more. He's lost a bit of weight, but if you know Poops, that's not such a bad thing, albeit it under bad circumstances, but still.

Bottom line, Poops just isn’t ready to give up and I’m going to do all I can to extend his life as long as I know he can live happily and healthily. I never let money determine the opportunities and experiences I have in life and I will do the same for my loved ones. Time is not our friend and I'm going to squeeze out every last bit of it for as long as I can.

I'm not asking for anyone else to pay for his treatment and I know it’s my responsibility. But if anyone wants to help, I'd be forever grateful. It’s going to be tough, but luckily they allow me to pay per treatment so I have some time to pull the extra funds together each week. The amount I'm attempting to raise is just a fraction of my cost, but it's still a HUGE help.

100% of the donations will go to his chemo treatment.

I love you all for taking the time to read this. If you can’t donate, that is OK! If you are able to help, even $1 will make a difference.

Please share this with your family, friends and fellow animal lovers. ♥ ♥ ♥
