Hello, my name is Abbie Doran and I am raising money on behalf of Sohayb and his family. I know this family personally and can ensure that every dollar raised will be used responsibly. Please read Sohayb's story and consider donating to help save his family. Your support means the world to them—and to me.

My name is Sohayb, and I am a father of six wonderful children and a loving husband. I am in need of financial support so that my family and I are able to live in safety while I continue my education. Your generosity will not only help me achieve my dream of graduating with a master’s degree, but it will also save a family of eight—giving my children the right to a safe home, proper education, and the chance to live their childhood far from a warzone.

I have always been deeply passionate about education, and I have dedicated my life to the field of accounting and finance. I graduated from the Islamic University of Gaza with a Bachelor of Accounting and Finance. My passion for my major did not stop there, and I registered for a master’s program at the Islamic University of Gaza in 2023, even though I was working full-time and funding the household. Unfortunately, the war on Gaza started that year. With the destruction of the university during the war, my dream of pursuing my degree felt impossible. Additionally, the instability of being continuously displaced and trying to keep my family safe makes it difficult for me to continue my education, especially when my focus has to be on my family's survival. Two weeks ago, my youngest son, Hazem, was born. Each time I look at his angelic innocent face, I promise him that I will make him so proud. Hazem was born in the middle of the chaos of Gaza and in very tough circumstances, but his birth is hope for me to keep him and the rest of my family safe.

Now, I got the opportunity to continue my academic journey by pursuing a master’s degree at International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM). Being on a student visa in Malaysia prohibits working. That is, I will be responsible for tuition, fees, food, housing, and other essentials for taking care of a family of eight, including an infant.

The estimated expenses are $20,000 per year, and since the master’s program lasts for two years, the total cost is $40,000. This amount will cover:

· Tuition and university fees

· Rent and housing for my family

· Food and necessities

· Utilities and other living expenses

· Education for my kids if they get the chance to do so in Malaysia

This is Hazem, whose birth is more like a miracle amid this destructive war.

This is Reyad, my eldest son. He is a very curious smart kid who always asks questions about various matters; this is how his teachers describe him. Reyad who is 10 years old knows what he wants to be when he grows up. He always talks to me about his ambition to be a physician and when I asks him why, he responds with glittering eyes, it is an honoring position where I could be a reason of ending someone’s suffering or healing someone’s pain.

This program is a dream come true for me—not only because it allows me to further my education, but also because it gives my children the chance to live in safety, away from the daily dangers of war in Gaza. The war has been ongoing for two years now. For the last two years, my children have been deprived of their right to education and have not been able to attend school. My eldest son, Reyad, yearns to go to school. When I asked him, “Reyad, what is the first thing you will do when the war stops?” he answered with no hesitation, “Going back to school.” Reyad is a very smart kid who always gets honored alongside his siblings for getting the highest grades among their peers.

I am passionate about becoming a highly qualified scholar in my field, but this journey is not only about me. It is about giving my children the opportunity to grow up in peace, to learn, and to build a brighter future.
