Give girls the opportunity to play soccer!
Donation protected
Hi everyone! Everyone who knows me knows how much soccer was a part of my childhood growing up. I know first hand the power of the beautiful game and the impact it can have on young athletes. Although I don't play anymore, I have transitioned into coaching, having the privilege of getting to know many young athletes and hearing their stories. Recently, I have gotten to know two girls who absolutely love soccer and want to play at the next level. With aspirations to play at a higher level, I encouraged them to try out for club soccer and they made it- wohoo! They are so excited about the opportunity to learn, grow, and play in a structured environment where they will train and play games on a weekly basis with qualified coaches. However, right now they are unable to accept a spot within the club due to financial hardship within their respective families.
With all this, I am hoping to alleviate the financial burden that club soccer places upon families by raising money to ensure they are able to play. We are hoping they are approved for financial assistance from the club, however this only covers the base fees, and does not cover expenses for uniforms/equipment, team fees, tournament fees, etc. I am reaching out to the community with hopes that anyone who is willing and able help out these two girls in covering some of the costs. My transition to the other side of the sidelines has opened my eyes to many things, and equal & equitable access to sport for girls and women has become something I feel very passionate about. Ensuring young girls have the same opportunities to play sports like I did growing up has become very important to me. Knowing these girls, I see how much soccer means to them, and know they would be so grateful for this opportunity. The girls and I would be incredibly appreciative for any donations to help ensure they are able to play this fall! (We also appreciate good thoughts and good vibes!!) Thank you!
Each of the girls gave me permission to share a small piece of what the opportunity to play soccer means to them, and how financial assistance from their community helps them achieve their goals.
- "l love playing soccer because it's fun and makes me happy when l play with other players. Soccer is important to me because it is a sport that brings me joy, challenges me physically and mentally, and allows me to be part of a team. I love soccer because of the excitement of the game, the camaraderie with teammates, and the opportunity to continuously improve my skills. My goals in soccer include enhancing my technical abilities, contributing positively to my team's success, and potentially playing at a competitive level in the future."
- “Soccer is important to me because when I was going through things I would go play soccer to clear my head. Soccer is one of the important things in my life and I’m very thankful my older sister for showing me this amazing sport. I fell in love with soccer in 8th grade at first I was playing soccer for fun but I started taking it seriously. A goal I want to achieve is I wanna be a starter on varsity my junior year. In order to do that I have to work very very hard, and I want to show everyone who has doubted me that I can do anything I put my mind to. Lastly, I want to make my Mother, the person who sacrifice everything for me and my siblings proud, I want to wake up everyday knowing my mom is proud of me for accomplishing my goals.”
