Give Cameron a Chance

Donation protected
Cameron Michael was welcomed into the world on June 11, 2020, by parents Josh and Kara after an eventful pregnancy. No one in his family had ever known a love like this before.
At just two months of age, nurse-mom, Kara, felt something was off and the little family wound up in the emergency room where, after several days and tests, he was diagnosed with Wolcott-Rallison Syndrome, a rare genetic disorder that presents in infants before 6 months of age as Type 1 Diabetes (insulin-dependent). The disorder is characterized by stunted bone and cartilage growth within the first 1-2 years of life and is associated with short stature (dwarfism with short trunk).
The most life-threatening part of the disorder is elevated liver enzymes, liver enlargement, and recurrent acute liver failure. Before his 2nd birthday, Cameron had already been in liver failure once, which was the scariest thing anyone in his family had ever experienced. Most patients with this disease do not survive to adulthood, and the majority of WRS patients die from fulminant hepatitis during childhood.
A double transplant, liver and pancreas, is the only chance he has to live a long, full life. But as we all know, surgeries like this are expensive, even with the best health insurance, and the time Cameron will spend in the hospital after surgery will require Kara to take at least a month, likely more, off work.
Cameron's extended family will be there to help as much as we can, helping with post-surgery care, keeping puppy-brother Francois occupied, being a shoulder for both Josh and Kara, but we need you too.
Cameron is on the transplant list, and the organs he needs could become available at any time. Kara and Josh could get a call tomorrow that Cameron's life-saving chance is here. And as any parent would, they will take that chance, to give him the life he deserves.
Cameron is the happiest little guy I have ever known (I might be biased, I'm Nana). His laugh is infectious and his smile lights up a room. He is stubborn, mischievous, and so smart. Will you give him the chance to grow into a young man his whole family will adore?
Please consider donating to his transplant surgery today.
