Hi! For those of you who don’t know me, my name is Ashley Cook and I’m Ginelle’s niece. With only 8 years between us, she has been more of a sister/best friend. I’m starting this GoFundMe because my Aunt Ginelle was just recently diagnosed with Stage IV metastatic cancer (Pancreatic Neuro Endocrine Cancer). 

To give you all a small backstory, seven weeks ago she was having difficulty breathing and pain on her right side on a trip to Colorado for her daughters 21st birthday. She just assumed this was altitude sickness and a virus. However, when she came home and the symptoms didn’t go away, she decided to go see her family practice doctor. After several trips there they decided to perform an ultrasound which showed five masses in her liver. A follow-up MRI of her abdomen came back with a mass on the body of her pancreas and innumerable (over 25) lesions on her liver. The largest being the size of an egg. On Wednesday, May 23rd, a week shy of her 38th birthday, her and her husband were given the devastating news that no one ever wants to hear. Pancreatic cancer that had metastasized to her liver. 

At the young age of 37, this is absolutely earth shattering and completely unexpected to her and our entire family. Anyone who knows Ginelle knows that she is a beautiful soul and is a ray of sunshine and happiness to all who encounter her. She’s always very giving of herself to help anyone in need and even though she fought us on this, we told her to accept the help that people want to give. We are all amazed by the prayers and positivity that has been shown to her and all of us thus far. 

 If you’ve ever been diagnosed or known someone close to you with a cancer diagnosis, there are many options to consider and phone calls and appointments to make.  Currently she is doing a liver cleanse and a holistic diet and we are all in the process of looking into a combination of holistic/traditional therapies.

Even during this awful time Ginelle still remains positive, full of faith and happy. Our purpose for starting this GoFundMe page is to alleviate the stress and burden of upcoming medical bills on top of loss of wages. An aggressive approach for an extremely aggressive cancer. Any amount will make a difference and we appreciate all who are praying and keeping Ginelle and our family in their thoughts. Thank you so much.
