Gift Cards for Needy Families

Last year, when I was turning 50, and looking for a way to do something different during strange and hard times and when we were not able to celebrate the way we wanted, I decided to run this fundraiser as a way to give back and celebrate our community.

I reached out to our three local schools (Richmond Elementary School, Camels Hump Middle School, and Mount Mansfield Union High School) who identified the families in need. This year,  the need is still great as ever, so I decided to run the fundraiser again.

Please donate what you can. I will then do all the work of buying the gift cards at grocery stores and department stores and then I will distribute them to the schools directly. They in turn will hand them out to the identified families.

Last year, we raised enough money to buy 97 - $30 gift cards.

p.s. You may see other campaigns happening locally like this one. They all go to the same cause- buying much-needed gift cards to support our community members. For instance, RES and CHMS have set up a way to donate through a Sign-Up Genius (https://www.signupgenius.com/go/9040c4ba9a62aa1fa7-reschms1). Once all these campaigns end, the schools will take the culmination of the gift cards and combine them, and then donate them to the families.
