Mitchell's Medical Treatment
Donation protected
Mitchell Lee Smith, the 21 year old son of Kim and David Russell and Mark Smith, is currently in treatment at Touchstone, a NeuroPsych Recovery Center in Conroe.
3 years ago, Mitchell was a healthy high school senior looking forward to college football. A change began in Fall of 2016 with his behavior. Many experts believe this dramatic change was from multiple undiagnosed concussions, as well as his attempt to self medicate the changes he was feeling and experiencing. Late in the fall of 2016, his brain stopped working (telling him to eat, drink or eliminate ) and an EEG showed severe frontal and occipital damage rendering him incapable of caring for himself. Fourteen mon ths later, Mitchell’s functional level has increased, however he suffered a traumatic event in December 2017 when his apartment (built out by the family on the property) caught on fire and Mitchell had to be rescued by the fire department and suffered a set back in his recovery as a result. His current condtion requires specialized treatments such as speech therapy, physical and occupation therapy, social integration, and counseling for his brain injury.
Kim has been able to get Mitchell into Touchstone Neurorecovery where they can treat him effectively , however he may require extended treatment at the facility that will not be covered by Mitchell’s insurance.
Any donation would help offset the ongoing medical expenses required for Mitchell to be able to Iive and work independently.
This campaign has been set up by the friends and people who love Mitchell.
We thank you for your love and support of these wonderful people.
