On Saturday June 6th we found this tiny kitten mewing for his life in the backyard of our apartment building. His whole arm was caught in a rat trap called a Trapper T-Rex and it was on one side of a chain link fence, while the kitten was on the other side of the fence. There were maggots in his arm, we have no idea how long he was stuck there like that. We freed him and Aaron jumped over the fence ripping his pants and cutting his leg to retrieve him. If we let him go he would have surely suffered and died.
We weren't planning for this to happen, but there's no way we could let this little creature die. Since taking him to 3 separate vets he has already racked up significant bills that were definitely not in our budget for this year (I am attaching receipts) but when you're faced with something like this you just do what you have to do and figure it out later.
This little kitty who we named George has captured our hearts, I didn't know it was possible to get so attached to an animal so quickly. He doesn't have a hissy bone in his body; he is pure sweetness and love.
Tomorrow he is going in to have his leg amputated. Without that ($5,000) surgery he would probably get sepsis and would not survive as the leg is already necrotic and smells pretty terrible. George has been responding really well to the care we have given him and his weight has already gone up from .4 kg to .5 kg in just 3 days (about one pound - tiny!)
I know this is a wild time for everyone, people are out of work and the world is in an uprising. But a few people asked if they could help and we certainly need any help we can get.
If you would prefer / its easer our Venmo handles are:

Many thanks and love,
Ani, Aaron, Zelda, Murphy, and George
