Gaylene’s Battle

As I sit and type this, I am still in disbelief. As some of you may know, my mom is currently sitting in the ICU at Research Medical in KC. After weeks of unexplained and sudden debilitating pain, it was time for me to make the trek from Georgia to Missouri this past weekend, to drag her to a hospital that was going to get some answers. Well, we got some answers, just not even remotely close to what we thought they were going to say. My beautiful-sweet-loving-precious-momma has Stage 4 Lung Cancer. She had a blood clot in her left arm that she had several surgeries to remove. Her arm is mobile again and has the blood flow that it should. A huge team of doctors are working around the clock to fix several issues stemming from the cancer, in hopes to provide her pain relief and keep her focused on the long journey ahead. I ask all of you to please pray for my momma. She’s the toughest person I’ve ever known and she could use every good vibe in the universe right now. She will be in the hospital for quite awhile, and require home assistance even when she gets home. 

She of course hasn’t been able to work, and this has the implications of a lot of financial strain heading our way. I will be traveling back and forth from Georgia and a lot of the family will be making the drive daily. I ask that, if you can find it in you heart to assist in any way that you can, my family would be immensely grateful. Even if it’s not monetary, your prayers are just as valuable. I will keep updates coming as much as I can, as often as I can. -Kelli
