Garden PreSchool 25th Anniversary Fundraiser

WHO WE ARE
Founded in 1995 the Garden Preschool Cooperative is a parent-run nonprofit preschool that seeks to provide high-quality progressive early childhood education in a nurturing atmosphere.
The program at GPC is based on the well-researched and well-proven educational philosophy of developmentally-appropriate practice.
Young children learn best by play — by actively thinking, experimenting, exploring and manipulating their environment — to make sense of their world, to understand and negotiate relationships, to develop creative thinking and to build a positive sense of themselves and their significance to a community.
Through art, cooking, singing, building, gardening and engaging in pretend play, children — with teacher guidance — build on their knowledge of emergent literacy, math and science concepts.
GPC faculty employ the developmental-interactive approach to teaching students as pioneered by the Bank Street Graduate School of Education in New York.
ANNIVERSARY
Although our 25th year anniversary was in March 2020 we weren’t able to celebrate as planned but we were hopeful that a marvelous gala would have taken place in March 2021.
But the pandemic had different plans for all of us.
We take great pride in having been able to keep our school safely open for this academic year.
Our community truly came together to try to make this new reality of masks/social distance as pleasant as possible for our kids.
Our incredible teachers were able to find creative ways to make these new rules fun and also to explain why they were important while being supportive of the children’s feelings and curiosity.
Any nonprofit lives and breathes thanks to the kindness and support of their “fans”.
The goal of this fundraiser is to help GPC acquire some new items that are either needed to be replaced or that are an upgrade to the magical world of GPC.
FUNCTIONAL ITEMS
-New dishwasher
-New vacuum cleaner
-New rugs
-New stove
-New oven
-Kitchen stools: allowing the kids to observe the adults cooking, cutting, cleaning etc.
-Play loft
ARTS & CRAFTS &TOOLS
-Large light table: allowing kids to explore with light plus building magna-tiles on it.
-Wood working wall
-Wood working tools
-Wood working table
-Cooking tools
-Blender for smoothies and soups
-Rice maker
-Pasta maker
-Small tiles that the kids could decorate plus the graduating kids could leave a self-portrait that would end up as part of a mosaic at the school entrance
-Gardening supplies
Our ultimate dream would be to have a space just for GPC to grow a garden. Allowing a daily access to the kids that will be able to explore and understand the cycle of life through seeds, plants, flowers, fruits and veggies.
For the last 26 years Garden Preschool was able to exist and thrive thanks to dedicated teachers and parents whose common goal is to create the best foundation possible for our kids knowing that all of them are members of our future generation.
GPC is a 501(c)(3) non-profit and all donations are tax deductible.
