Legal Defense and Educational Fund

As an Asian American highschooler, I feel the need to combat systemic racism. George Floyd’s death sparked a realization that racism, unethical behaviors of the police, and the Government’s responsibilities should not be neglected. I believe that as a minority, it is our obligation to protect and defend other groups who are battling discrimination. I wanted to join the protests to show my support. However, my parents have given strict instructions forbidding me to go. Due to Covid-19 and the violence that may occur during the protests, it seems too unsafe to attend. Though I am not allowed to protest and march through the streets for justice, I refuse to make this an excuse to neglect advocating and battling for equality and justice. This is why I have decided to create a Go Fund Me to assist the NAACP-LDF (National Association for the Advancement of Colored People-Legal Defense Group). Creating this fundraiser will allow us to support this movement, especially if we are unable to join the protests. By donating to this Go Fund Me, you are directly supporting the brilliant work done by NAACP-LDF to battle injustice (all proceeds will go through Go Fund Me and be delivered to NAACP-LDF). However, if you are unable to donate, do not worry. By sharing this Go Fund Me, you will ultimately help spread awareness and opportunities for others to be involved in this revolution. 


NAACP-LDF is a law firm that helps fight racial injustice. Through “litigation, advocacy, and public education, LDF seeks structural changes to expand democracy, eliminate disparities, and achieve racial justice in a society that fulfills the promise of equality for all Americans.” Additionally, NAACP-LDF provides scholarships for exceptional African American students. I believe knowledge and education is the human’s strongest weapon. This organization is able to keep people people connected to lawyers and educators to battle injustice, and protect the equal rights that every citizen deserves.
