Spende geschützt
on 9/6/23, i was termed from my job of nearly five years for falling asleep at work...twice in the span of about a week, despite sleeping a full 8 hours at night and consuming multiple energy drinks throughout the day, to no avail. during my subsequent weeks of job-hunting from home, on the days when i wouldn't take my prescription adderall i'd have to force myself not to sleep all day, and i also couldn't seem to maintain an adequate level of hydration, needing to relieve myself as often as every 45 minutes and typically about 4 times a night.
this all came to a head on 10/16/23: i was en route to a job interview when i found myself experiencing a sudden onset of shortness of breath. audibly wheezing and unable to walk or even stand in the 102-degree heat, i quite literally laid down on the sidewalk and called 911. when all was said and done, i'd learned i was diabetic (my astronomical blood sugar was the reason behind my constant bathroom visits), severely anemic due to the ongoing presence of fibroids and subsequent bleeding (accounting for my lethargy) and, most alarmingly, i have pulmonary embolisms (aka blood clots) scattered throughout my lungs, the culprit behind my struggle to breathe.
i was admitted to the hospital that day and have been here ever since. fortunately, after a catscan, an mri, an ivc filter placement, two ultrasounds, three blood transfusions, thrice daily insulin injections, numerous iv drips and more pills than i can count, lol, i'm finally on the upswing; should everything go according to plan, i expect to be discharged within the next 5 days or so. however, while i am happy to be receiving care and no longer in imminent danger, it's definitely made the rest of my life challenging. my extended hospital stay made it impossible for me to secure a new interview with the aforementioned company, and i am loath to submit new applications while my availability to interview is uncertain. i'm also still awaiting a decision on unemployment compensation; because my termination was, on paper, my fault, there's apparently lot of red tape to review. as a result, november is quickly approaching and i don't have the money to pay my upcoming bills.
i'm genuinely really embarrassed to be asking for help in this manner; i expected to remain with my company for years to come and never imagined i'd be marooned on the other side of the country without a job just two years after moving out here. as i've been unsuccessful at securing help via rental assistance resources and the like, however, i'm humbly requesting any financial (or job lead; i'm on linkedin!) assistance that anyone may feel moved to provide, and i extend my deepest gratitude in advance for any funds/suggestions received.
[the total funds requested encompass my monthly rent ($1615.89), my electric bill ($64.29), my other utilities that are bundled into one charge by my rental company ($68.37), my internet bill ($70), and the past-due balance on my phone bill ($82.59), plus 3% to offset gfm's transaction fees.]
