24th World Scout Jamboree
Donation protected
Hi I'm Gabe
In November last year I applied to go to the 24th World Scout Jamboree in West Virginia, USA taking place in July 2019. I joined over 130 scouts from the Greater London North East district for a selection weekend and was one of the 36 successful applicants!
That was the easy part....! I now have until May 2019 to raise the £3800 I need in order to take part in this amazing experience. This amount is to cover the cost of my flights, accommodation at the World Scout Jamboree, equipment, food and training camps. Part of this amount also goes into an International Solidarity Fund to help scouts from less economically developed countries to attend the Jamboree. I will also get to visit New York or Washington DC and spend a week camping with local scout troops in either Canada or North America.
The Jamboree itself is held once every 4 years and is for Scouts and Explorers aged 14-17. It will be over 3 weeks from 22nd July to 02 August 2019 on a huge 14,000 acre site in West Virginia. The event is being jointly hosted by the Boy Scouts of America, Scouts of Canada & the Scout Association of Mexico. There will be over 40,000 scouts from around 90 countries attending!
I have already started fundraising and have so far received donations from car washing, cake sales by the scout leader, I donated the money I received from volunteering at Great Ormond Street's Echocardiogram course, and have been lucky enough to receive a donation of £100 from the 21st Walthamstow Exec Committee as well as £50 from Jean & Pam's Teapot fund. We have been set the challenge of raising £250 a month between now and next May; so I plan to hold some more cake sales, do car washing as well as a quiz night and hold a fundraising stall at church parade at which I will sell cakes and WSJ badges.
I am really grateful for any donations that you can spare to enable me to experience this once in a lifetime opportunity and will be updating this page regularly so that you can keep track of my progress.
Thank you so much for your support, I really appreciate it.
Gabe
