Lola’s life saving surgery

Donation protected
For anyone that knows us, or anyone who doesn’t, it’s rare to see one without the other. Lola is my sidekick, my heart, she has got me through some impossibly hard times and in return I have dedicated my life to her health and happiness. And now, we find ourselves in quite the sticky situation in ways of an unexpected health crisis we were not prepared for. (Lola has yet to get a job )

I’ve never really been one to ask for help, I would rather give than receive. But alas, we have entered a point of desperation…

Lola was in a freak stick accident of Wednesday while partaking in her favourite past time, fetch. Unfortunately one end of the stick lodged in the ground. To anyone who has seen Lola in action, it is no surprise she was right on top of said stick, the result being the other end entering her mouth and tearing a toonie sized hole in her soft palate which is at the back of her throat, just below the tongue. I rushed home from work and when we arrived at the vet I was immediately referred to the WSU veterinary hospital in Pullman, WA - about 4 hours south of the border.

Desperate times call for desperate measures, so we departed immediately and Lola was admitted to the ICU. After X-rays, CT scan, blood work, and an endoscopy totalling $2000 USD ( $2723 CAD) the surgical team found that Lola was in the best state expected with no additional lacerations or debris. She is ready for surgery!

With a deposit placed of $4000 USD ($5447 CAD) the potential final resulting bill could be up to $8170 CAD. It does not end there. Lola will need to remain in ICU for her post op recovery for a few nights which a cost that has yet to be discussed. I have not hesitated to blow up my credit card to save my best friend, but this is only the beginning of what could follow. If this surgery is not a success a more serious and elaborate graph may have to be considered- in which the total funds required would be insurmountable.

So I humbly ask my darling friends, family and community to contribute what they can so we can continue on our beautiful journey of life together. Baker street patios wouldn’t be the same without our girl, Lola.

If by some miracle any additional funds are reached they will be donated to our local SPCA shelter.
