Hi,

My name is Ron Strong and I am a 61 year old powerlifter from Canada.

I have been competing for 20 years and am nearing the end of my competitive days.  I have the opportunity to go out on top at the World Championships by setting a few world records in Helsingborg, Sweden on June 5, 2019.

The sport of powerlifting is comprised of 3 individual competitions: squat, bench press and the deadlift.  You are awarded placement in the individual disciplines and also for the total combined weight of all 3 lifts.

I am a 15 time Canadian champion and defending world champion.  I have Commonwealth records and North American Powerlifting Federation records as well.

I take my lifting seriously, training 4 days a week.  All of the years of lifting internationally without help have taken its toll on me financially.  A fellow Canadian team member mentioned the "Go Fund Me" page as a way to raise funds to assist in my endeavour.  The expenses I will incur for this trip are: flight $1500, hotel and shuttle service $1000, and food and entry fee $500.  I am setting a goal of raising $3000.
