Durante 40 años, la Fundación Nuestro Hogar ha sido un refugio seguro en Pereira, Colombia, para niñas que han sufrido abandono, abuso o negligencia. Fundada por Maria Cecilia Marulanda, la fundación ha acogido y cuidado a cientos de niñas -desde bebés de apenas unas semanas de nacidas hasta adolescentes- brindándoles un hogar, educación y un camino hacia un futuro mejor. A lo largo de estas cuatro décadas, más de la mitad de las niñas que han pasado por nuestras puertas fueron adoptadas por familias amorosas, mientras que muchas otras recibieron las herramientas y el apoyo necesarios para construir una vida independiente.

Hoy, cerca de 50 niñas llaman hogar a la Fundación Nuestro Hogar, desde una bebé de dos meses hasta adolescentes de 15 años. La fundación cuenta con el acompañamiento de un dedicado grupo de religiosas españolas, entre ellas la Hermana Amparo, así como de nuestra extraordinaria directora, Gladys Jaramillo, cuya entrega y dedicación a estas niñas han transformado innumerables vidas.

Un reciente terremoto en Colombia dejó nuestro hogar gravemente afectado: el techo colapsó y actualmente no contamos con agua corriente ni electricidad. Por su seguridad, y ante la posibilidad de réplicas, trasladamos a todas las niñas a un edificio más grande y resistente ubicado dentro del mismo terreno y administrado por las hermanas. La situación ha sido desconcertante para ellas, pero nuestras cuidadoras han logrado convertirla en una aventura, y por el momento las niñas están seguras y con buen ánimo.

Ahora necesitamos de su ayuda para reconstruir. Cada donación -sin importar su monto- se destinará directamente a reparar el techo, restablecer los servicios de agua y electricidad, y ayudar a que estas niñas puedan regresar, lo antes posible, a la estabilidad y normalidad que merecen. María Carolina, coorganizadora de esta campaña, es nuestra persona de confianza en los Estados Unidos, encargada de distribuir todas las donaciones directamente a la Fundación Nuestro Hogar.

For the last 40 years, Fundación Nuestro Hogar has been a safe haven in Pereira, Colombia, for girls who have experienced abandonment, abuse, or neglect. Founded by Maria Cecilia Marulanda, the foundation has welcomed and cared for hundreds of girls—from infants just a few weeks old to teenagers—providing them with a home, an education, and a path toward a better future. Over the course of these four decades, more than half of the girls who have come through our doors have been adopted by loving families, while many others have received the tools and support they needed to build independent lives.

Today, nearly 50 girls call Fundación Nuestro Hogar home, ranging from a two-month-old baby to teenagers as old as 15. The foundation is supported by a dedicated group of Spanish nuns, including Sister Amparo, as well as our extraordinary director, Gladys Jaramillo, whose commitment and devotion to these girls have transformed countless lives.

A recent earthquake in Colombia severely damaged the home of these girls within our foundation: the roof collapsed, and we are currently without running water or electricity. For their safety, and due to the possibility of aftershocks, we relocated all of the girls to a larger, more structurally secure building located on the same property and managed by the sisters. The situation has understandably been unsettling for them, but our caregivers have managed to turn it into an adventure, and for now, the girls are safe and in good spirits.

We now need your help to rebuild. Every donation -no matter the amount- will go directly toward repairing the roof, restoring water and electricity, and helping these girls return as soon as possible to the stability and normalcy they deserve. María Carolina, a co-organizer of this campaign, is our trusted individual in the United States, responsible for distributing all donations directly to Fundación Nuestro Hogar.
