Fund lifesaving surgery for 8wk old puppy
Donación protegida
Hello! I’m looking to raise funds for surgery on an 8 week old shelter puppy who requires a surgery to live. He has a congenital defect called Persistent Right Aortic Arch (PRAA), or vascular ring anomaly, which means that there is a band of tissue around his esophagus adjacent to his heart, preventing food from passing all the way to the stomach. This causes a condition called megaesophagus above the defect, which leads to regurgitation or vomiting and lack of sufficient food intake to the stomach. The prognosis for this condition is poor without surgery, but with surgery the prognosis is very good. He would be given about a 90% chance of a healthy and full life following surgery. The shelter he is being cared for through is not able to provide the funds for this surgery, so unfortunately if this doesn’t happen, he will be humanely euthanised. The surgery quote currently is around $3,800, pending a potential discount from the surgeon. I would keep this updated should the cost change, and at the time of posting we have raised —UPDATED: $3,216–. I would love to be able to help give this otherwise healthy and happy puppy a shot at life, and would very much appreciate any amount you would be willing to give!
