With thousands of people forced to flee their homes throughout Ukraine, many have not been able to bring their animals with them. And in the middle of a wartorn country, many of these cats and dogs have suffered horrible injuries and are now traumatized and roaming the streets unable to feed themselves. And although a lot of clinics in the East have been destroyed, there are still a few brave veterinarians doing everything they can to save these lost pets. However, these animals are all over the country, and it has been very challenging for these vets to reach them in order to treat them. That is why, with the help of Moritz Baller, a volunteer from Germany, we are hoping to buy a van that we will modify into a mobile clinic. Also, by adding an extra 150 liter tank the van will have much greater autonomy and can also work as a means of transporting medication and food to any of the remaining clinics and shelters that are still standing. Our group of volunteers will be using this van during our time in Ukraine this summer to help with the veterinarians' efforts. After we go back home we will be leaving the van with USAVA, the Ukrainian Small Animal Veterinary Association, located in Odessa, so that they may continue their mission to save the animals of Ukraine.
