Continuing Our Dream: A Call for Support

Young Star Musical Theatre has been a family operated business for three generations. It all started in the 1980s in Southern California with Barbara Shepherd. Then, in the early 2000s, her daughter Shmaine Shepherd took the reins. And since 2018, Shmaine has been running the show with her daughter Lexy Shepherd by her side. Throughout the years, YSMT has touched the lives of countless kids, making magic happen on stage and beyond.

For almost 4 years (almost 5 summer seasons!), the Plant Street location was our home for creativity, talent, and most importantly love and friendships.

After our summer renovations of a 108 year old historic citrus barn in Dillard Street, we have created a multifunctional venue that not only hosts our regular classes, camps, and lessons but also includes a performance space with 111 seats.

Expanded Capacity: A larger space means more opportunities for students and the community to engage in the arts.

Dedicated Performance Venue: We have been working hard on our theatre where performers can showcase their talents, from showcases to full-scale productions for students of all ages and levels.

Revive History: Your contributions will go towards this new phase of YSMT by adapting a historic building into a more community-friendly facility that welcomes creativity.
