From Hardship to Hope: Joseph & Zuri's Story

My name is Joseph Thompson. I’m a father, healer, and man on a mission of redemption. After losing my home and all my belongings, I’m rebuilding my life in Los Angeles while caring for my daughter and launching two healing-focused businesses. I’m asking for $50,000 to secure stable housing, recover from medical hardship, and fully activate a vision that will help others heal as I have.

First, thank you for taking the time to read this and even consider helping me. Whether you donate or share this page, your support means the world to me and my daughter.

My name is Joseph Thompson, I’m 39 years old and from Los Angeles, California. My life has been shaped by trauma, loss, survival, and now — redemption.

I was born into a family caught in the storm of the 1980s drug epidemic. My mother was addicted to heroin during her pregnancy, and I was born with the substance in my system. I fought for my life before I could take my first breath. My father passed before I turned 7, and much of my childhood was spent in unstable environments — raised by kind-hearted women doing the best they could, but trauma doesn’t leave quietly.

Despite the pain and poor choices I’ve made in my life, I’ve always held on to one truth: I want to do better. I want to serve, to give, to raise my daughter with love and intention. I’m not a perfect man, but I’ve taken full accountability for where I’ve fallen short.

Today, I’m a father to a beautiful 5-year-old girl named Zuri. She loves me to the moon and back, and I want to be the kind of father she can always be proud of. But since her grandmother passed away right after her birth, I’ve struggled to stay grounded emotionally. I tried to escape the chaos by relocating to Baja California, but a series of emotional and financial challenges caused me to lose my home, my belongings, and my peace of mind. I’ve now returned to L.A. with nothing but determination and faith.

Right now, I’m sleeping where I can — beaches, stairways — wherever I can maintain a shred of dignity while I continue to co-parent and rebuild. Shelters aren’t an option for someone like me: I don’t suffer from addiction, and most are not designed for people trying to maintain stability and peace while transitioning forward.

But here’s what I do have:
• A clear vision for a better life
• A deep spiritual awakening
• Two registered LLCs — Indige West Temple (creative healing strategies) and Indige West Investment (financial stewardship & community building)
• A completed massage therapy education, now expanded into holistic and spiritual wellness
• A 90-day extreme fast in progress to cleanse my body and mind (currently on Day 6!)
• A job opportunity waiting for me with Empire CLS, if I can just renew my license and get the required black suit uniform

I am asking for $50,000 to cover:
• 1 year of stable housing for me and my daughter
• Replacing essential belongings (clothing, bedding, tools for wellness practice)
• Launching my businesses fully (website, materials, certifications, mobile setup)
• Transportation needs (driver’s license, black suit, car rental/deposit)
• Wellness costs (continued fasting support, medical detox tools)
• Childcare and emergency support for Zuri

I’m not just rebuilding for me. I want to give back — to mentor, to heal, to create space for people like me: survivors, creatives, the misunderstood. Your donation is not charity — it’s an investment in a life, a little girl’s future, and a greater mission.

Whether it’s $5 or $500, every drop matters. And if you can’t give, please share this campaign with someone who might.

With love, respect, and the fire to rise,
Joseph Thompson
