My name is William Ohene Ampofo Delong, an international student with a deep passion for research, leadership, and solving real‑world problems through knowledge.
By God’s grace, I have been blessed with scholarships throughout my academic journey — from my undergraduate studies at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration to a fully funded Master’s degree in Business Analytics at the University of Exeter. These opportunities shaped my skills, strengthened my research focus, and confirmed my calling to pursue a PhD.
I am now honoured to have received an unconditional offer to begin a full‑time PhD in Accounting and Financial Management at Northumbria University starting March 2026. This PhD is a crucial step toward becoming a researcher whose work contributes to policy, governance, and societal development.
To secure my place, I have already taken personal loans to pay for my initial deposit and visa costs. I have done everything within my power to move forward, but the remaining financial requirements are beyond what I can cover alone.
My first‑year cost is £32,032, which includes:
- Tuition: £17,980
- Living expenses: £14,052 (required for rent, food, transport, and basic needs)
URGENT DEADLINES
I must now pay:
- £8,990 by 19 March 2026 (half of my tuition)
- £8,990 by 1 July 2026 (remaining balance)
These deadlines are fixed and required for me to enrol, secure my visa, and begin my PhD on time.
Because the programme is full‑time (37 hours per week) and my visa limits how much I can work, I cannot earn enough to cover these costs while studying. International PhD funding is extremely limited and highly competitive, leaving many qualified students without access.
This fundraiser focuses only on Year 1, which is the immediate requirement for me to begin my studies and sustain myself during the first year.
Every contribution — no matter the size — brings me closer to meeting my 19 March deadline and removes a financial barrier standing between me and my calling as a researcher committed to ethics, governance, and societal impact.
Thank you for believing in education, opportunity, and potential.
With gratitude,
William Delong
