Frei is free, help him run

Hi, they call me Gus and I’m here on behalf of my lil buddy Frei. Frei has spent his last 8 years in a 10x10 pen. He wasn’t abused, but he wasn’t loved. He recently dug himself out and after a couple of days showed up limping yet still wagging his tail. I immediately took him to the vet only to learn that his right rear leg is out of socket. For humans, not a big deal, but for dogs, I’ve been told by three vets and the internet (must be true) that it requires surgery. The initial visit cost me $360, and the surgery I’m told could be between $1500 and $2500. If I had it, I wouldn’t ask for help. The owner has released Frei to me, and my goal is to get him healthy so that he can spend the rest of his days running and exploring. I’ve known this boy for 7 years. I see no aggression in him. He’s happy and sweet and a little timid because he’s seeing everything for the first time.
