Newsflash!!! We've met our first target of £1,000 - can you help us to raise £2,000 to provide free therapeutic sessions for local disadvantaged children and young people?
Gosh, Covid-19 has had such a huge impact and detrimental impact on mental health in the UK. I imagine that you can relate to this - this year has certainly been tough for many of us! In my local area, sadly many families are still very much at breaking-point. Many children and young people see 'no future' and 'no point'... families have asked for support for what seems like an eternity. On top of this, they simply can't afford private therapy for their child - but like you, they would if they could! Like the rest of the Cocoon Kids team, I have my own lived-experience of socio-economic disadvantage and ACEs and its impact... we know first-hand how vital your donation is, which is why we joined together to change this, with your support.
Ali asked us to let you know how happy they are that you support Cocoon Kids with your donation.
They say it really helps that Cocoon Kids offers free and low-cost sessions to families like theirs: families on benefits, or low incomes, and who live in social housing. 100% of your donation covers all of their sessions and your money meant that Ali can choose when to come - even one evening in the holidays, so they didn't miss their appointments when they found it hard to get up. Funnily, since they've been coming to Cocoon Kids, they don't sleep all day now.
Cocoon Kids Creative Counselling and Play Therapy CIC's therapists use their child-led, person-centred creative counselling and play therapy skills to help children and young people to safely explore their experiences. We're a not-for-profit Community Interest Company organisation, which means that ALL of your donation pays for this support. Ali's family was just one family, but there are many, many others.
Play Packs of fun
We've wracked our brains about how else we can raise funding for free sessions, so we also sell Play Packs for £4. These packs of 4 different sensory regulatory, are perfect as stocking-fillers, back-to-school gifts, or classroom fiddle-toys. They're also great for kids of ALL ages - so yes, I have some myself, too!
