This is my brother-in-law, Andrew and his wife, Adrienne, from Jacksonville, NC, and their 3 kids (Jaylin, Aubri and Joel). Their very first home was severely damaged by Hurricane Florence, and from what they know so far, they have lost more than half of their belongings inside.
This Marine and his family are not only displaced, but they literally only have the clothes on their backs right now. With the house being unlivable, and the time it will take to either repair or rebuild, they will be displaced for the long-term. Hopefully temporary housing will become available, but with so many others displaced, they're not sure when that will happen either.
They're working with their insurance company and also trying to figure out the federal & military resources they have available, but it's been daunting & overwhelming, and takes time to figure it all out. And with so many others in the same situation, that adds to the responsiveness for the help too.
The money raised will be given to them directly so they can pay for any hotel stays while they handle things associated with the loss, and buy clothing and essentials. If you think you can help, any little bit will help as they try to rebuild their lives. At the very least, we appreciate prayers for them and for all families affected by this storm.
