As many of you may already be aware, David sadly passed away this morning. For those of you who continue to donate to this fundraiser, please know anything over the $5,000 needed for the Star, I will put it towards his funeral costs. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart ❤️❤️❤️
David Marcus is an adult with special needs in our community. Although he wasn't born here, this is his home. For years he has inspired the Bakersfield community. Recently, he was named the Greatest Community Supporter at the 8th Annual P.E.A.A.K Awards presented by the Kern High School District. A number of non-profits and local organization have also honored Marcus for his support and encouragement, something he's done almost entirely while battling cancer. Marcus is now battling cancer a seventh time. He is on hospice care at home. Marcus says it is important for people to see the positivity he shares, especially younger people and cancer patients. Marcus believes his brightness can make our community a better and more loving place. From Honor Flight to League of Dreams, Campout Against Cancer to Relay for Life, Christmas Parades, Veterans Day events and much much more, Marcus can always be found spreading his positivity and supporting our community. His famous "Thumbs Up" pictures taken with just about everyone and anyone. He is a fixture in our community. He is a beacon of light. We could use more people like David Marcus in our community. I truly believe he is deserving of this honor. The Fox Theatre Board of Directors is in full support of an initative to get David a star infront of the famed Fox Theatre. The board realizes that time is of the essence and would love to award David with the star while he is still with us.
