For Violet and Olive

Mikal and Ella were akin to a nucleus. They were magnets for different groups of people at different times in their lives, all of whom were impacted by their generosity, humor, intelligence and infectious banter. This was a couple whose skillful, clever exchanges were matched with true kindness. They were elegant, beautiful misfits that attracted and accepted less elegant, more misfitted strangers. They were loved and loved others and each other so deeply. If you knew them personally, you understand well. And if you were lucky enough to be part of their orbit, you also understand and witnessed how much they loved their children, Violet and Olive.

With both of them gone now, we all want to surround these kids with as much love, community and support that we can. This will take a village, as the saying goes. It will take showing up, actively keeping up with them, and it will take those of us who know and love this family to provide these kids with everything we can. It will never be enough, of course. One part of this is raising funds for their future, for their short and medium term needs, for now.

The kids are such beautiful extensions of their parents. And as we all grieve, and miss Ella and Mikal terribly, we must move forward in the united mission to make sure to do as much as we can to provide their children with what they deserve. Thank you for considering a donation.
