For a teacher, a mentor, and a friend Mr. Linder

My name is Brendan Banayan. I was given the privilege to have been taught by someone who was a teacher, a friend, and mentor to not only myself but to so many other students in our Saint Mary's (high school community). Mr. Linder was also a professor at Saint Marys High-school as well as teaching at Saint John's University. Mr. Lindner’s battle with COVID-19 began a few weeks ago, and ultimately, he succumbed to the virus. His students always spoke of what a kind man he was, and teaching at St. Mary’s brought him immense joy to share our faith with his students. He had a positive attitude that truly shined inside and outside of the classroom. Mr. Lindner’s after school leadership included the Music Club and Chess Club, which were always an enjoyable experience for his students.
Mr. Lindner was indeed guided to what he was “supposed to do” as a Theology teacher at St. Mary’s. His teaching brought positive change to his students each day. Many students shared that Mr. Lindner would always make an extra effort to connect with them so that each student knew they were a special part of the St. Mary’s community.
Mr. Lindner leaves behind his son, Paul Jr., the mother of his son, Joanne, and his extended family.
