Food Pantry Needs a Fridge!
Donation protected
Hello friends,
As some of you may know, we began a food pantry called Parkrose Provides at the school where I work. At this school, over half of our students are classified as food insecure. They can eat 3 meals at school each day, but what about Saturday and Sunday? What about breaks?
Each weekend we feed around 20 families by sending students home with backpacks full of food and hope to grow this number to 40 and continue to open the pantry on the weekends.
We have been able to secure a partnership with Urban Gleaners, a local non-profit that picks up and brings us perishable goods from businesses all around the city. In order to receive this gift, we need an industrial-sized refrigerator. I found one at our local Sears outlet, but we don't have the funds to purchase at this time.
For my birthday, I am asking my friends and family to help make this a reality for the students of Parkrose. As you know, school budgets are tight as is and definitely don't have enough room in them for a project like this. Any help you can PROVIDE will make PARKROSE a better place.
Please help me in using my 27th year to continue to serve the Parkrose community!
With Love,
Mrs. Meza
