'Flirt' - Short Film

Hello!

My name is Clara Mooney and I'm the producer of Flirt, which is currently in pre-production and will be filmed on location in Drogheda in early November.

STORY

Flirt is an LGBTQ+ coming-of-age short film that explores first relationships, heartbreak, isolation and the social dynamics of late secondary school years. It focuses on Kev, whose debs night is turned on its head, when a secret threatens to devastate his relationship and future plans.

From ‘situationships’ to online dating, the modern landscape of love and relationships is a thorny, transient one. These things are complicated enough for adults to negotiate, let alone teenagers who wish so desperately to be seen as adults that they take on emotional situations that are beyond them.

Flirt is a contemporary story of transition from secondary school and into the adult world, all in the vacuum of the debs, an event that will be familiar and hold resonance to most, if not all, Irish audiences. The genesis behind this idea is to create a film that explores the social dynamics of queer/LGBTQ+ Irish teenagers, a theme that has long been underrepresented on-screen.

TEAM

We are small but incredibly talented and dedicated team, consisting of Louis Flanagan (Writer/ Co-Director), Aisling Kane (Co-Director), Clara Mooney (Producer), David O’Farrell McGeary (Cinematographer), Orla Ní Raghallaigh (Production Designer) and Josh Moffatt (Editor)
