Dear Friends and Family,
I am coming to you with an immediate need. My dear friend Sonya Warren was told five weeks ago that she has a brain tumor. While having MRI’s (3/12/2020) at Drs Regional, doctors also discovered she has a mass in her lungs and her Pancreas. While her brain Tumor has proven to be cancerous the lung and pancreas can not be dealt with at this time due to the coronavirus. She was accepted into MD. Anderson 3/18/2020. She was scheduled to have her first radiation treatment Friday,4/3/2020. Thursday 4/2/2020 she had to go in for another MRI before treatment was started and went back Friday morning. She was told that her radiation treatments had been cancelled and that a Dr. would call her that evening. She received word last night that immediate surgery is needed. The tumor has doubled in size and radiation isn’t an option. She will have surgery next week. Two weeks ago, the Drs. chose radiation over surgery because the tumor is too close to the motor skills part of her brain. Surgery will be very risky and will leave her with much needed physical therapy. We know that God is the healer of all, and we know that God controls all things. Please be in prayer for Sonya because that is her first need.
If you have the pleasure of knowing Sonya, then you’ve probably met her while taking care of someone you know or maybe yourself. I met Sonya while she was a CNA back in 1996/97. She went to school and became a PTA and worked at Humpal Physical Therapy for years. She worked there until good ole Harvey took their home and they spent two years rebuilding their house. Shortly after Sonya decided to start her own business Blue Wave Fitness. She is a certified physical fitness instructor and let me tell you I probably should have taken some classes. She’ll be back though cause that’s who she is! I’ll be waiting Sonya.
While she has always taken care of others her first true love is her family. She and her husband Richard have been married for a gagillion years…. Seriously. Richard will be taking time off work to be Sonya’s caretaker. She will need lots of physical therapy and immediate care after she returns home. If you want to see a true best friend husband and wife well here, they are. She has two sons Lee who is 27 and Bo who is 12. Bo is known as a master storyteller (you won’t believe your ears) and a fun-loving jokester. We think both the boys are awesome sauce.
The funds raised will be used for gas, food and lodging while going through surgeries and treatments. Since Richard is taking some time off to care for Sonya monies will go toward monthly household expenses. I implore you to help support these beautiful people through one of the toughest times of their lives. We love them and truly appreciate any support you can give them. I’ll be adding updates as we go through surgeries and treatments. Our goal is 5000.00 but the need will be ongoing. We are thankful for any donation given.
