Fighting For Forever: Nathan Carr vs. Prolactinoma

Donativo protegido
Hello Everyone, we are creating this GoFundMe account in order to help out an amazing man, Nathan Carr. As a lot of you know Nathan is a very respectable, hardworking man. Due to some recent events Nathan has not been able to work and has been in the hospital. Nathan not only will need help with his medical bills, as he has no insurance, but also to help him not lose everything he has worked so hard in life for we created this account to help him earn what is needed to get through this long process. Currently Nathan Carr's personal and Carr's Lawncare business monthly bills add up to roughly $6,500.00 per month, this is not including any personal expenses like gas and food nor the medical bills that he is currently accumulating.

At this time there is no time frame on how long it will take Nate to be able to return to his business and is adding extra stress on him during this situation where he needs to be able to focus on getting himself better. Neck Surgery will be performed and is typically a minimum of 6-10 weeks until you are able to even lift more than a milk jug, but due to the extreme work Nathan does on a mower it might be longer than that for him to be able to return to "full-duty". All of Nathan's family and friends are working very hard on trying to make sure Nathan is focusing more on his health rather than worrying about his finances.

The Story....

As we all know, Nathan Carr works harder than probably most people that you may meet in your lifetime. Nathan is the owner of Carr's Lawncare based out of Jackson Township. He started the company roughly 5 years ago on his own taking care of a few residential yards, over the years he has grown the company and now takes care of commercial and residential yards keeping a full time working schedule 7 days a week. If any of you are lucky to be customer's of his business you know how much pride he takes in his work. Perfection is the only standard allowed and he bends over backwards to ensure that is the outcome. Sometimes that comes as a cost meaning long days in the heat, lack of sleep, body aches, ignoring any flu like symptoms and pushing through anything that can possibly be pushed through.

Starting a few months ago Nathan was starting to notice some different feelings in his body but "chalked" it up to headaches, not getting enough sleep, growing pains with the career path he chose, etc. A few weeks ago things started to get a little more difficult, loss of balance at times, ringing in the ears, a "crick" in his neck that was not going away very much, among a few other things.

On the morning of Tuesday September 17th Nathan woke up and felt a "pop" in his neck. He then was unable to move and was in a severe amount of pain. He contacted his father and proceeded to head to the hospital due to the severity. While at Summa Hospital in Green he was informed that he had a large mass on his Brain and that they would need to transfer him to Akron City to do further testing to know more. At this moment Nate knew that it was not going to just be an in and out visit that day. After a very long day of waiting Nathan was transferred to Akron city that night where he endured a lot more testing, and even way more waiting. On Wednesday Nathan was informed that the mass on his Brain was known as a Prolactinoma Tumor. Akron City doctors stated that it was the biggest Prolactinoma Tumor that they have ever came across and that they needed to look into some factors and most likely transfer him to where there were doctors that were more knowledgeable with this rare tumor.

Information on the Tumor: A Prolactinoma is A hormone-secreting tumor on the pituitary gland. The hormone-producing gland in the brain (pituitary gland) overproduces prolactin, decreasing the levels of some sex hormones. It's caused by a noncancerous tumor on the gland. It is considered Rare, as there are fewer than 200,000 US cases per year.

On Friday September 20th Nathan was finally transferred to University Hospital in Cleveland around midnight. Saturday morning Nathan met with more Doctor's and Specialists to start on a treatment plan. They discussed possibilities, treatment options as well as findings in his reports and tests.

Unfortunately during one of the findings doctors were made aware that Nathan was missing his Atlas bone due to how large the growth was with the Prolactinoma tumor. The tumor had got so large that it destroyed the Atlas bone, which will require surgery. The Atlas (C1) is the most superior (first) cervical vertebra of the spine. The Atlas is the topmost vertebra and with the axis forms the joint connecting the skull and spine. In the words of the doctor's, Nathan was literally a bobble-head and they were shocked that he was "bouncing" on mowers daily and still living today. Neck surgery is required and will be performed as soon as possible.

Nathan is currently in a neck brace and will have to wear one until the surgery is performed. During the surgery they will have to remove a part of his hip bone to use as a place holder for the Atlas bone, and he may only retrieve up to 50% of his range of motion back in his neck over time. University Hospital doctor's started Nathan on medication that will hopefully shrink the Prolactinoma tumor so they will be able to remove it as it is way too large for surgery. The goal however, is for the medication to work to shrink the tumor completely in order to not endure another surgery to remove it.

We thank each and every one of you for your prayers, love and support that you have for Nathan. Please continue to check back as we will be posting updates on Nathan as we receive them.
